Play Ruff

Hello Cupcakes,

The ruffle was once worn by royalty and revolutionaries of both genders, to connote strength and exceptional power. Historically, ruffles were unisex. They first came into being in 16th century Spain, when soldiers wore several layers of clothing and often slashed their sleeve ends to reveal the fabric beneath. In 2016, designers such as Gucci and Balenciaga popularized the flourish all over again. Today, ruffles are still trending. They have become a statement of delicate womanhood; they are ultra girly and have feminine flair. They appear on hemlines, sleeves, collars etc.

Ruffles add so much to an outfit. A well-placed ruffle can do the job of statement jewelry, a handbag or great shoes. Whether you opt for a ruffled dress, ruffled sleeves or a ruffled hemline, there is a ruffled piece that suits everyone.

I opted for ruffle at the hem of a “denim” dress. This dress is the perfect weekend look. Its comfortable and feminine. The ruffled hemline gives it an added touch of style. To complete the look, I opted for nude pumps and some fashionable earrings.
